Who we are

We are a member of the Presbyterian Church, USA, and have been committed to serving the people of Morganton, Burke County, and beyond since before 1797.

For more than 223 years, we have been for Morganton.

Our rich history propels us into the future. We support our local businesses, professionals, students, and schools.

We want the people of Morganton and Burke County to know we are FOR them, that God is FOR them, and that the message of Jesus Christ is still good news!

FPC is a gathering of people striving to know, love, and follow Jesus.

We gather around God’s Word and are sent out to be God's people in the world.

We are Presbyterian, which describes our form of government—elders elected by the congregation for a set term.

We are Reformed, which describes the Christian tradition from which we’ve inherited our distinctive beliefs (see www.pcusa.org).

At First Presbyterian Church of Morganton, our Ruling Elders and Deacons are called to serve Christ and this congregation with faith, humility, and care.

Ruling Elders provide spiritual leadership and discernment for the life and mission of the church.

Deacons offer compassionate service, support, and outreach to our members and community.

Together, they seek to follow Jesus Christ by leading with love, listening with intention, and serving with grace.
