When children are removed from their household by the Department of Social Services on an emergency basis, the children often have to leave immediately without packing a bag. Our church is participating in a mission to provide those children with Comfort Kits, which include basic necessities, as well as items that may be comforting to the child in order to ensure a smoother transition to their emergency foster or family care. Each Comfort Kit is packed in a duffle bag with items that are appropriate for and specific to the child’s age. This year, the group needs 6 bags in the 0-12 month range and 2 bags each in the teen girls and teen boys.
If you would like to participate, please see the list of items needed below, or feel free to provide a monetary donation, which we can use to purchase items for the kit. Donations can be dropped off at the church office (or call 828-437-1811 to drop items off without contact).
